Capturing Calm at Sivana Spa
Sivana Spa had just completed a renovation of their Walla Walla space and wanted video content that reflected the serene, rejuvenating experience they now provide. The goal was to attract new clientele and give current customers a glimpse of the relaxing care awaiting them. In a single filming session, I created a suite of deliverables: looping videos for their lobby and website header, a social media feature, and a library of clips for ongoing marketing.
NOTE: because this video was intended for Sivana’s lobby TV and their website header, it is silent.
Project Overview
To convey the spa’s services, I filmed two models receiving facials and other treatments, as well as moments of shopping and check-in at the front desk. By filming in slow motion and using a slider for smooth camera movements, I was able to capture the soothing pace and graceful flow of the services.
Lighting & Cinematography
Because Sivana Spa’s services center on beauty and self‑care, it was essential that the customers look glamorous on camera. Achieving that required carefully crafted lighting, especially in treatment rooms that were small and dimly lit. I rigged an overhead softbox to replace the ceiling fixtures, creating a soft, flattering glow that elevated the look while remaining authentic to the space. A secondary light filled in the deep green walls, reinforcing Sivana Spa’s brand color and adding richness to the overall scene.
Editing & Post-Production
In the edit, I used dissolve transitions and a relaxed pace to mirror the spa’s soothing environment. My multi-step color correction process ensured pristine and natural skin tones. I also enhanced the glamorous look by used a diffusion effect to emulate an optical filter, which created a glow in the highlights and softened the skin of the models. Thanks to filming in a flexible 4:3 format, I was able to crop the footage seamlessly into a 16:9 lobby TV video, an ultrawide website header, and vertical social media content — all from one filming session, without the need to shoot everything twice. The final motion graphic incorporated Sivana’s brand colors and assets in a smooth animation, tying the videos seamlessly to their identity.
With the diffusion effect (top), skin tones are softened and highlights glow. Without the diffusion effect (bottom), details are overly crisp.
By filming in a 4:3 format, I was able to create both website and social media deliverables.
